BOSTON (WLNE) – Another human case of EEE has been reported by Massachusetts state officials.

On Friday afternoon the Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced the eighth human case of EEE has been confirmed.

Officials say a man in his 50’s from northeastern Bristol County has been infected.

While summer is winding down, the department of health is still urging people to weigh on the side of caution. “Even though it is September, it is still mosquito season,” said Public Health Commissioner Monica Bharel, MD, MPH.

“We continue to emphasize the need for people to protect themselves from mosquito bites.”
