BOSTON (WLNE) — Massachusetts will hold its annual sales tax holiday this weekend.

Most retail items under $2,500 will be exempt from the 6.25% sales tax on Saturday and Sunday. Online items also qualify as long as they’re purchased this weekend.

The state said clothing generally applies unless it costs more than $175 — only the amount over $175 will be taxed.

The below items do not qualify for the sales tax holiday exemption:

  • Meals
  • Motor vehicles
  • Motorboats
  • Telecommunications services
  • Gas
  • Steam
  • Electricity
  • Tobacco products
  • Marijuana or marijuana products
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Any single item whose price is more than $2,500

Purchases from businesses or for business use also do not qualify.

No tax will be due if exchanges are made after this weekend.
