Massachusetts State Police investigating after body found in Charles River
NEWTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police said they’re investigating after a dead man was found along the Charles River in Fonte Park last night.
Police identified the deceased as 43-year-old Mynor Vasquez-Vega, who was a member of a local homeless community.
They said around 8 p.m. Saturday night, two people were walking along the Charles River, which runs adjacent to Fonte Park and located Vasquez-Vega.
According to officials, Vasquez-Vega’s body was found on state Department of Conservation and Recreation property .
Facts regarding the cause and nature of Vasquez-Vega’s death were not immediately released.
Police said a post-mortem examination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is pending.
The investigation remains active and ongoing police said.
