Massachusetts State Police locate 2 missing teens with infrared technology

DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police said they were able to locate two missing 14-year-old girls with infrared camera technology.

Thursday afternoon, state police said they were investigating a report of two teen girls who walked away from their care facility and were missing for multiple hours.

As the search continued into the evening, police said their flight crew operating their Air-4 helicopter found two heat signatures in some nearby woods.

The crew directed state police K-9 units and Dedham firefighters towards the location of the reading.

After locating and evaluating the girls’ conditions, fire officials had both transported to a local hospital.

Massachusetts State Police said their Air Wing is a valuable asset to public safety agencies throughout the state in missing persons cases as well as many other kinds of missions.

No further information was released about the condition of the two juveniles.
