MassDOT to perform overnight work in Freetown, New Bedford next week

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said it will be installing Intelligent Transportation Systems camera pole in Freetown and New Bedford overnight next week.

The work on Route 140 southbound for both town will begin at 10 p.m. on Sunday and finish by 5:30 a.m. the next morning.

Work on Braley Road in New Bedford will begin at 10 p.m. on Monday and again conclude the next morning by 5:30 a.m.

The department said drivers will be guided by signs at work zones, Massachusetts State Police will be utilized for controlled rolling roadblocks, and road closure should last no longer than 15 minutes.

Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.

The work is part of a larger camera installation project taking place all next week, and will also affect drivers in Marion, Carver, Wareham, and Foxborough.

All work is expected to be completed by Friday morning.
