Mayor Taveras’ Statement Regarding PROCAP Problems
Monday at 11pm ABC6 Reporter Erin Logan detailed problems Providence residents were having with the heating assistance program offered by PROCAP, the Providence Community Action Program.
ABC asked Mayor Angel Taveras what options were available to residents who weren't getting anywhere with PROCAP, and we received this statement from Melissa Withers, Providence Mayor Angel Taveras' Communications Director:
“We are saddened to hear of this situation. We encourage the resident to call the Office of Neighborhood Services in the morning at (401) 421-7768. The ONS team may be able to make a referral or recommendation that can improve the situation. We know that many in our City struggle with heating their homes in the winter. It is a terrible thing when anyone finds themselves unable to stay warm.”
