PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — McCoy Stadium’s “final inning” was pushed back again due to weather concerns.

The sendoff and grand fireworks show will now be held on Sunday, Sept. 3 from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The celebration was originally set for the week of the Fourth of July. It was then moved to Sunday, July 16 due to rain.

McCoy has been vacant since 2019.

The sendoff will give people a chance to say goodbye to the former home of the PawSox.

Last year, Pawtucket voters approved plans to turn the stadium into a new high school.

The chairman of the Facilities Committee for the Pawtucket School Department told ABC 6 News there’s plans to honor the stadium in the new facility.
