McDermott Pool reopens after hangers holding HVAC system fail, mayor says

Warwick Mayor Frank Picozzi shared this photo of a collapsed section of McDermott Pool's HVAC system, Wednesday, July 20, 2022.

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Warwick Mayor Frank Picozzi said Wednesday that McDermott Pool reopened after some of the hangers holding a section of the facility’s HVAC system failed.

The section nearly fell while there were swimmers in the pool. No one was injured. The mayor said that the collapsed portion is part of the building’s heating system and it doesn’t affect the operations of the actual pool.

The pool was closed down while crews worked to safely get the piece of the system down. It reopened at 9:30 a.m.
