CRANSTON, RI – Cranston Police are asking all residents who plan to hit the road this Memorial Day Weekend to take a minute and register their addresses on their website, so they can keep an eye on people’s empty homes.

The idea is to curb crime. With so many people posting their travel plans on Facebook, those houses often become easy targets for burglars.

Cranston police have created a "vacation check request" form, on the department website. It prompts residents to fill out their name, contact info and home address.  According to the department’s Facebook page, that personal information will then be forwarded to their uniform patrol division and checked as often as time permits.
