Meet the Candidates: Allen Waters

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — ABC 6 News spoke to Democratic candidate for the 1st Congressional District special election, Allen Waters on Thursday.

With 30 years of experience as an investing consultant, serving on many boards including the Rhode Island Black Heritage Society and recently changing parties from Republican to Democrat, Waters said his voters can count on him to be a candidate who cares about social issues, specifically education.

“Education is failing too many people from city to countryside, we need change, we need to have someone who’s willing to do that because attached to that is parents’ rights. A lot of parents are being excluded from private information for their children. If Rhode Island wants a fighter for education and parents’ rights, its Allen Waters for congress,” Waters explained.

The special election for the 1st Congressional District seat to replace former Rep. David Cicilline will take place on Sept. 5.
