PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Residents of Providence will have a chance to voice their opinions on a plan to rebuild the city’s highway interchange of Routes 6 and 10.

A public meeting will be hosted the city at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Asa Messer Elementary School.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) says the bridges need fixing, but there are disagreements over what will replace them.

The state had announced a plan earlier this year to use the needed repairs as an opportunity to bury the highway under a park-lined boulevard.

The city of Providence says it’s beginning a design process for different options.

The main concern is how to improve surrounding neighborhoods and traffic flow.
