A list of local Memorial Day weekend events

Numerous events are planned throughout the area for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend to honor veterans who lost their lives serving the United States.
Here is a list of some of the holiday weekend’s events:
Friday – Monday
8:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Boots on the Ground for Heroes Memorial
Presented by Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, this memorial display of nearly 7,000 pairs of combat boots adorned with flags and name plates at Fort Adams in Newport represents the U.S. armed service members killed in action since the September 11th attacks.
Sunday, May 26th will include a patriotic concert featuring the RI National Guard’s 88th Army Band at 7:00 p.m.
Friday, May 24
9 p.m. Memorial Day Fireside Weekend Begins at Rooftop at Providence G
On Memorial Day Weekend the Rooftop is hosting a Memorial Day Extravaganza! Celebrate nightly from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Providence’s only rooftop bar and lounge. Take in the warm weather and fresh air, and dance the night away with The Dance Floor DJs!
Saturday, May 25
9:00 a.m. at New Bedford Rural Cemetery
The Greater New Bedford Civil War Round Table will conduct a memorial exercise at the Union Soldier’s Burial Site at Rural Cemetery, 149 Dartmouth Street. These services typically include historical reenactment, music and a gun salute.
10 a.m. Gaspee Days Arts & Crafts Festival in Warwick
The Gaspee Days Arts & Crafts Festival is a free, fun, and family-friendly experience that showcases over 100 fine artisans, community groups, and non-profits where you will find one-of-a-kind arts and delicious craft fair eats. Over the course of three days, Pawtuxet Park fills with live music by our hand-picked local bands while children enjoy the many amusements available.
12 p.m. Fall River Food Truck Festival
Bring your lawn chair and come hungry to the 3rd Annual Fall River Food Truck Festival from 12-4 p.m. at the Gates of the City on Ponta Delgada Boulevard. This waterfront event will feature local food trucks, craft beer from a local brewery, craft vendors and more! Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Fund.
Sunday, May 26
10:30 a.m. at New Bedford Pine Grove Cemetery
New Bedford Post 1, The American Legion will conduct a Memorial Day exercise at the Veterans’ plot in Pine Grove Cemetery, 1100 Ashley Blvd.
12:00 p.m. at New Bedford City Hall
New Bedford Post 1 and The American Legion will conduct a Memorial Day Exercise at the Vietnam Veterans’ Honor Roll at New Bedford City Hall (133 William St) on the William Street side of the building.
Monday, May 27
8:15 a.m. at New Bedford Rural Cemetery
New Bedford Post 1, The American Legion will conduct a Memorial Day Exercise at the Veterans’ Plot in Rural Cemetery, 149 Dartmouth Street.
10:00 a.m. North Kingstown Memorial Day Parade
The parade starts at 10 a.m. with the route following West Main, Brown, and Phillips Streets through Wickford village and then onto Tower Hill Road (Rte. 1) to the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial on the grounds of Elm Grove Cemetery for the concluding ceremonies which are expected to begin at 11 a.m..
10:00 a.m. at Pier 3 in New Bedford
The New Bedford Port Society’s Annual Memorial Day Fishermen’s Service, Pier 3, New Bedford Waterfront.
11:00 a.m. Lincoln Memorial Day Parade at Chase Farm in Lincoln, RI
The Lincoln Memorial Day Parade is held rain or shine and an opportunity for the community to honor those who gave everything for freedom and country. Parade steps off at Smithfield Avenue and marches along Higginson Avenue, Walker Street, Chapel Street and ends on Great Road. Plus there is a post parade food truck celebration.
11:00 a.m. Pawtucket’s Memorial Day Observation: A Living Tribute
A ceremony honoring the 151st Anniversary of Memorial Day in remembrance of all those men and women from Pawtucket who have perished while wearing the uniform of our Armed Services.
11:30 a.m. City of New Bedford Memorial Day Parade
The Parade will form at 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of Parker Street and Hathaway Boulevard and will step off at 11:30 a.m.
The Parade will travel east on Parker Street to County Street, north on County Street to Pope Street, and east on Pope Street into Clasky Common Park where a Memorial Day Ceremony will be held.
The town’s Veterans’ Advisory Board and the Office Of Veterans Services encourages anyone who attends the service in Clasky Common Park to bring a single flower of their choice lay at the park’s memorials.
This will be in remembrance of a veteran family member or friend.
12:00 p.m. Attleboro Memorial Day Parade
1:00 p.m. East Providence Memorial Day Parade
Starts at Crescent Park Looff Carousel in Riverside and ends at The American Legion
1:00 p.m. North Providence Memorial Day Parade
The 12th Annual Memorial Day Parade begins at 1:00 pm at North Providence High School’s front lot. Marchers go eastward on Mineral Spring Avenue and turn north onto Douglas Avenue. The parade ends at Governor John A. Notte, Jr. Park with a Celebration. Celebration and a Wreath Laying Ceremony immediately follows the parade
