Memorial to be held Friday for Westerly Shooting Victim

A Celebration of Life for Julie Lynn Cardinal is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at the Westerly Yacht Club. 

Cardinal, an employee of the Babcock Village in Westerly, was killed Thursday after a shooting at the housing complex. Another employee and resident were also seriously injured.

A mother of four and a member of both the Elks and Rotary Club, Cardinal will be remembered for her love of music and singing, according to her obituary. 

Cardinal also played a key role in advocating full membership for women in the Westerly Yacht Club. 

The family has requested a private service for the wake and funeral.
