Michael Tertsea Enters NCAA Transfer Portal, Intends To Leave URI

University of Rhode Island Press Release

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island redshirt sophomore Michael Tertsea has submitted his name to the NCAA Transfer Portal with the intent of transferring.

“Mike is a tremendous young man who deserves the opportunity to play,” Rhode Island Head Coach David Cox said. “I understand his decision to explore his options. This is a young man who has worked hard on and off the court from the day he arrived, and we want the best for him. I wish him the best moving forward.”

Tertsea, a 6-10 center from Makurdi, Nigeria, played in 15 games over the last two seasons as a reserve for the Rams. He redshirted in his first year in the program and has been a part of an Atlantic 10 Championship title in 2016-17, a regular-season A-10 championship last year and two NCAA Championship appearances while at Rhode Island.
