Lowell has 4 hits in PawSox loss

Major League rehabber Mike Lowell (hip) went 4-4 on Saturday night in Columbus, but it wasn't nearly enough as the Clippers pounded Pawtucket 12-7. The PawSox banged out a season-high 16 hits in the loss. Luis Valbuena of Columbus went 5-5 before finally making an out to end the eighth inning. Valbuena had several chances at the cycle, with 2 singles, 2 doubles and a home run. Felix Doubront (3-3) took the loss, working just 3 innings, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits.

Newcomer Jack Hannahan did a nice job at third base and got 2 hits in his PawSox debut. Gustavo Molina belted a three run homer. Ryan Kalish added a pair of hits. Pawtucket has now lost 11 of its last 15 on the road. Lowell also played a solid first base for Pawtucket. He is slated to be in the lineup on Sunday, as well. Game time is 5:05 p.m. Mark Holliman (0-1, 3.00) faces Carlos Carrasco (8-4, 3.98).
