Plans are underway for the first-ever military academy for at-risk teens in Rhode Island.

The non-profit group 'Rhode Island Military Organization' is hoping to open the 'Youth Development Academy'. It would help teens who are flunking out of high school and get them ready for the working world through academics, physical training, and mentoring.

Anthony Paolino of the Rhode Island Military Organization says, “they have to be able to see that second chance, they have to want that second chance and they have to realize that what they are doing now… they aren't getting anywhere.”

Organizers are eyeing the vacant Rhodes Elementary School in Warwick. They say so far the Mayor and other city officials are on board.
