Misquamicut State Beach to feature solar-powered trash cans

WESTERLY, R.I. (WLNE) – The town of Westerly is looking for ways to cut down on the amount of trash left behind at local beaches.

The DEM has announced that Misquamicut State Beach will feature solar-powered trash cans at the pavilion to help cut down on waste.

Regular dumpsters will be available at every other beach entry point.

People caught littering on the state beach can be fined up to $500.
