Mittens and Meteors
High pressure is delivering dry, seasonally cold weather through Thursday. We definitely need the winter attire. It’s great that we have some clear nights for the peak of the Geminid Meteor Showers. These are one of the best sky shows of the year with rapid fire streaks of light from these chunks of space rock (meteoroids) that burn up in our atmosphere. The moon rises near 10 pm the next two nights and it is waning gibbous (almost a quarter moon). This shouldn’t impact viewing which is best late night.
A storm system is churning through the plains today with severe weather, rain and snow. This will deliver rain for us on Friday. It moves through to allow for a return to sunny dry weather for the weekend.
