Mom charged in death of two-year-old, held without bail
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE)- The mother of two kids who tested positive for fentanyl stepped into the courtroom Monday.
On December 10, Pawtucket police and fire responded to a residence on Sayles Avenue for an unresponsive two-year-old. Units found an apartment in terrible condition, without furniture, and observed equipment commonly used in drug distribution.
The two-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital caused by acute fentanyl intoxication, and an eight-year-old boy was found to have been exposed to fentanyl but survived.
The two month long investigation that led to Pawtucket Police arresting three individuals.
Jessaline Andrade, 26-years-old, from Cranston was the mother of the child. She is charged with Murder in the 2nd degree, and two counts of cruelty/neglect of a child
Stephano Castro, 31-years-old, from Providence. He is charged with Murder in the 2nd degree.
Yara Chum, 33-years-old, from Pawtucket. He is charged with Murder in the 2nd degree.
A judge entered a no plea on behalf of Andrade, and she is being held without bail.
