More nice weather Wednesday before summer warmth arrives
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — What a spectacular day across southern New England – we hit a high of 75 in Providence. It was cooler at the coast, mainly in the 60s.
Clouds increase this evening ahead of a weak cold front that is pushing through northern New England.
This will switch the winds from the southwest to the northwest, but they will remain on the gusty side. It may also shave a degree or two off of Wednesday’s temperatures, although our shore points will welcome this change as it will do the opposite.
The summer warmth arrives Thursday and Friday, with 80 degrees likely here in Providence. Friday will be the peak and records may fall.
For the weekend, our temperatures drop slightly, but we are still coming in above average for our daytime highs. The next system we are watching is moving in off the coast of the Pacific Northwest and that could bring us some rain Sunday into Marathon Monday.
Both allergies and daytime UV indices will continue to run high, so don’t forget the allergy meds and sunscreen!
TONIGHT: Variably cloudy and breezy, but mild. Low 56.
WEDNESDAY: Clouds to sun and breezy. High near 70.
THURSDAY: Sunny and very warm. High 81.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny with near record temperatures. High 85.
SATURDAY: More clouds and relatively cooler, but still quite mild. High 71.
SUNDAY: Cloudy with showers. High 66.
MONDAY: Rain in the morning, some clearing late. High 63 – good running temperatures.
