Fatal motorcycle crash in Raynham leaves 23-year-old Rehoboth man dead
RAYNHAM, Mass. (WLNE) – Massachusetts State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in Raynham that left a 23-year-old Rehoboth man dead.
Troopers responded to the scene on Route 495 South near Exit 8 in Raynham Tuesday night around 11:10 p.m.
State police say a preliminary investigation indicated the Rehoboth man was driving a 2016 Yamaha YZFR1 motorcycle when he allegedly rear-ended a 2004 commercial dump truck hauling asphalt.
The motorcycle became engulfed in flames and the 23-year-old man was dead on arrival.
Prior to the crash, police say the motorcycle was seen swerving in and out of travel lanes at an “extremely high rate of speed.”
State Police are not releasing the name of the victim at this time.
The southbound side of Route 495 was closed for approximately three and half hours, state police say.
The crash remains under investigation.
