Motorcyclist seriously injured in Warwick crash

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — One person was seriously injured following a motorcycle crash in Warwick Tuesday afternoon.
Chief Brad Connor said the crash happened at Main Avenue and Trinity Avenue around 1:30 p.m..
Connor said the motorcyclist crashed into an utility pole and suffered a life-threatening injury to his right leg after being thrown off the motorcycle.
Police identified the driver as 67-year-old Walter Lawrence of Cranston. Lawrence was the only person involved in the crash.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to police.
The chief said Lawrence was taken to Rhode Island Hospital is listed in critical condition.
An investigation in what led up to the crash is ongoing.
