Moviegoers flock to Providence Place for ‘Barbenheimer’

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Crowds of moviegoers are at Providence Place this weekend to see both “Barbie” and Oppenheimer,” which both premiered Friday.

ABC 6 News crews at the Providence Place Cinemas 16 and IMAX saw hectic crowds as customers went in and out of theaters.

Many were wearing pink to see the Margot Robbie film based on Mattel’s famous doll, while others saw both films in a nearly six-hour double feature.

I grew up watching all the animated Barbie movies and playing with my mom’s old Barbie dolls, so to see her on the big screen being looking like a real person was so crazy,” Molly McCrone said.

Theater staff said they expect crowds throughout the weekend as shows continue.
