Multiple departments provide assistance in overnight Lakeville fire

LAKEVILLE, Mass. (WLNE) – The Lakeville Fire Department responded to a chimney fire at a home on Howland Road just before 2 a.m. on Saturday morning.

When Lakeville police arrived, they determined that the fire had extended into the walls of the home.

Mutual aid from Acushnet, Berkley, Freetown, Rochester, and Taunton stations assisted Lakeville Fire Department at the scene. Providence Canteen also responded to additional rehab.

Crews found the fire throughout the first floor and up to the attic.

One adult man and his dog were home at the time of the fire, and made it out unharmed. The department says the house is not a total loss.

The scene was cleared at 3:50 a.m.

In a Facebook post, Chief O’Brien commended his firefighters on a job well done, thanked the mutual aid crews and Lakeville police for their assistance, and also thanked the Lakeville Fire Alarm dispatcher for her work.
