WESTERLY, R.I. (WLNE) – The planned extraction of the mysterious object in the water near Watch Hill in Westerly has been canceled due to deteriorating conditions on the beach.

The mysterious object was set to be removed from the water Tuesday evening.

The metal object was first spotted by the East Beach Association President about two years ago, and reappeared this summer.

It’s about 4 feet wide and covered in bolts.

The object is too heavy to pick up by hand, so a local tree service company was going to use their tools to drag it out of the water.

No word yet on if the removal will be rescheduled.
