MYSTIC, Conn. (WLNE)- Mystic Aquarium’s penguin chick had its first swim today– but the fetching little creature doesn’t have a name.

So the aquarium is asking for help from ABC 6 viewers.

The contest is ending soon, so be sure to get suggestions in fast. Visit the aquarium’s website for more details. The nonprofit aquarium is asking for donation of $59 to submit a name.

The three-month-old African penguin has only been known as Purple-Pink so far; typically, the penguins are named after colored beads placed on their wings to help scientists and caretakers identify them.

Because African penguins don’t have any identifiable gender characteristics, the gender reveal will have to wait for a DNA test.

In the meantime, name suggestions can be as creative as your imagination allows.

You can see Purple-Pink’s first swim below, and hear more about African penguins from assistant supervisor Tracy Camp.
