Man dies after being pulled from Narragansett house fire

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE) – An 89-year-old man has died after a home caught fire in Narragansett on Friday night.

The victim was identified by police as Roger Smith.

Crews were on the scene of the house fire on Indian Trail just after 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Narragansett Fire and Police Departments fought the blaze with the assistance of the North Kingstown and South Kingstown Fire Departments.

The male victim was found inside the house and transported to South County Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

One North Kingstown firefighter was transported to the hospital with minor injuries sustained while fighting the fire.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Narragansett Fire Marshal, and the Narragansett Police Department.
