Narragansett teen hits buzzer-beater featured on SportsCenter

It’s the shot that first seen on social media Monday night, and now it’s been seen around the country after a Narragansett teen hit a full-court shot at the buzzer, sending the game against Pilgrim into overtime.

Narragansett ended up winning the game. Although, the results have gotten lost in the shuffle because of the amazing shot from senior guard Colby Corson.

“I just remember my coach telling me he’s like ‘alright how about you box out underneath try to get a rebound and see what you can do,'” Corson said.

Corson got the rebound after a missed Pilgrim free throw with 1.3 seconds remaining, and he threw it into the air hoping for a miracle.

With his team down three, the shot went in and forced the game into overtime.

“I just remember the shot goes up I grabbed the rebound right here I just turned and threw it,” Corson said. “It was unbelievable. It was great to hear just all the fans going crazy. I remember Pilgrim was just silent.”

The shot was seen around the country after it was named the number one top play on ESPN’s SportsCenter.

“I made sure I turned it on first thing in the morning. I watched it with my family. Number one spot it was crazy,” he said.

What made it really special for Corson was that despite his team being on the road against Pilgrim, his family was able to make the game to see the shot.

“My grandparents were there, my mom and dad were there. They all witnessed it. It was pretty cool,” Corson said.

Narragansett High school Principal Daniel Warner said that the spotlight Corson is getting is well-deserved.

“He deserves all the accolades he’s worked hard, he’s a role model on the team, I can’t say enough nice things about Colby,” Warner said.

“Once in a lifetime opportunity. I’ll definitely remember it for a while,” Corson said.

Corson is planning on playing basketball in college, where he plans on studying business.

Narrangansett won the game 83-78.
