NASA chief to join Sen. Reed for tour of state

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Sen. Jack Reed and NASA Administrator Bill Nelson will tour Rhode Island to meet with businesses and schools that contribute to the administration.

Spokesman Chip Unruh said the tour will involve meetings with companies that supply NASA, touring the NASA-funded research labs at Brown University, and will meet with local students, teachers, and researchers from local schools and universities.

“NASA funds the Rhode Island Space Grant Consortium which encourages undergraduate and graduate students to explore NASA-related science research and engineering as careers,” Unruh said.

Nelson is a former senator from Florida and flew on the Columbia Space Shuttle as a payload specialist.
