Nationwide tank truck driver shortage could cause summer gas shortage

The Tanker Truck Industry is warning that some stations may run out of gas this summer and not because of a gas shortage, but rather a trucker shortage.

Up to a quarter of all tank trucks in the U.S. that carry gas are idle because they don’t have the drivers, according to National Tank Truck Carriers.

So far, it has only affected some stations in Las Vegas and Northwest Arkansas.

However, come this summer, experts say we may see shortages in vacation hot spots.

Demand for gas is already reaching pre-pandemic levels.

In fact, if you look at just the week of April 12, 2020 the country saw people taking about four billion trips under 25 miles.

Compare that to the same week in 2021, it was nearly six billion.
