Nearly 200,000 people to attend annual Feast of the Blessed Sacrament

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Thursday marks the first day of the 107th Feast of the Blessed Sacrament in New Bedford.

Nearly 200,000 people are expected to come for authentic Portuguese food and drinks, including wine from Madeira, and live music, dancing, and carnival games.

It will be the feast’s second year back since a two-year COVID-19 hiatus.

The feast will kickoff from 6 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Festivities will continue all weekend, from 5 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. on Friday and noon to 11:45 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The traditional parade will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from Brooklawn Park to the Feast grounds at Madeira Field. A parking ban will go into effect along the route starting at 10 a.m.
