Between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Saturday morning, astronomers are predicting a potentially incredible meteor shower to peak here in the northeast.

Some astronomers are saying we could see a “storm of meteors” with hundreds per hour flying by but local astronomy enthusiasts are being careful with the hype.

“It may be as good as or a little better than the Geminids in December or the Persieds in October when you could see 60–100 per hour,” says Dave Huestis of Skyscrapers, Inc.

If the clouds do cooperate and clear out, head to an area away from lights and look to the north for best viewing conditions.

Ninigret Park in Charlestown is having a meteor viewing event tonight.
