PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)– The Cape Verdean Recognition Committee has canceled the annual Cape Verdean Recognition Parade over COVID-19 concerns, according to a post on the group’s Facebook page.

The parade would have been the 48th installment, held each year in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

The group said it was a tough decision, but was “necessary to prioritize the health and safety of our participants, vendors and our committee members”.

There is no word yet on whether the parade will be rescheduled at a later date.
