New Bedford city council asks to put plastic bag ban on hold
NEW BEDFORD, MASS. (WLNE)- The New Bedford city council is now looking to put a plastic bag ban on hold.
Councilor Brian Gomes tells ABC6 that the council voted 10 to 1, asking Mayor Mitchell to delay enforcement of the ban until the committee can meet to discuss how the ban would be implemented and enforced.
The ordinance was passed in the summer of 2020 but no enforcement, in terms of fine or compliance checks, has started yet.
