New Bedford detectives take 4th gun off street in one week


NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford detectives took four guns off the streets this week.

On July 29th, detectives with the “Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau” executed a search warrant at a Hillman Street apartment.

That’s where they found 36-year-old Joseph Clement. Police seized a loaded 44 caliber handgun with ammunition. The department said the revolver’s serial number was checked and was stolen out of West Virginia.

Police noted at the time of the arrest, Clement also had three open cases in Fall River District Court for kidnapping, assault, and operating under the influence of narcotics.

He was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition without a license, receiving stolen property, and improper storage.
