New Bedford elementary school to close this fall

By News Staff

Budget cuts have forced New Bedford to shut the doors at one of its elementary schools beginning this upcoming fall.

The School Committee voted Monday night to close the Horatio Kempton School.

School officials say it will save the district more than $235,000 and no one will lose their job.

Students and teachers will be moved to the Thomas Rodman Elementary School, which is about a mile and a half away.
