New Bedford health center receives 100 doses of monkeypox vaccine

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — As monkeypox cases continue to climb across the country, Massachusetts health officials announced on Monday that eleven vaccine clinics will open up across the state.

Seven Hills Behavioral Health Center in New Bedford said they got the call last week from the department of health to be one of those centers.

“We are excited, we want to help be part of the solution,” Seven Hills Behavioral Health Center’s Director Connie Rocha-Mimoso said.

Rocha-Mimoso said that on Friday, 100 doses of the vaccine were delivered to their center. The vaccines will begin to be administered on July 25 from that location.

Over 30 appointments were made Monday for next week at the New Bedford location.

Rocha-Mimoso said they anticipate getting more doses from the CDC in the next few weeks.
