New Bedford hosts family-friendly, free events on New Year’s Eve

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The city of New Bedford is hosting a variety of family-friendly, free activities on New Year’s Eve to send off 2022 on a strong note.

There will be numerous activities both inside and outdoors, most taking place between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The night will close with a fireworks display at 8:30 p.m. 

Here is a list of free events on New Year’s Eve in New Bedford: 

  • Vinny’s Miracle Fish Puppets at The New Bedford Whaling Museum
  • A singing, dancing celebration with characters like Elsa and Spiderman at The New Bedford Public Library
  • Cirque de Light: fire spinning and LED performers at the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park
  • Kaleidoscope art, a magician and face painting at the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park
  • Buttonwood Brass Band will play at Mass Dartmouth CVPA Star Store 
  • Toe Jam Puppet Band at The New Bedford Whaling Museum
  • The city of New Bedford fireworks display 

“New Year’s Eve City Celebrates is a wonderful opportunity for area families and visitors to enjoy free, fun events for all ages in our historic downtown,” said Mayor Jon Mitchell. “We appreciate the generous support of Bristol County Savings Bank, which has sponsored city celebrates for many years, and we are grateful that they are joined this year by Vineyard Wind and Claremont Companies.”
