New Bedford man arrested in Dartmouth on animal cruelty charges

DARTMOUTH, MA (WLNE) – A New Bedford man was arrested on animal cruelty charges Friday night in Dartmouth.

According to Police, officers responded to the area of Colonial Way shortly before 7:00 p.m. Friday for reports of a man beating a dog with a baseball bat inside a parked car.

Dartmouth Police located the suspect, identified as Gregory Ostiguy, 50, of New Bedford, and determined through investigation that he had struck his dog with a bat.

Ostiguy was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals.

Police said the injured dog was transported to a local vet, where it was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
