New Bedford man arrested on drug and firearm charges

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE)- The New Bedford Police Department arrested a man on Friday for cocaine trafficking and firearm related charges.
Detectives searched a Purchase Street apartment belonging to 34-year-old Johan Baez.
During the search investigators found a .40 caliber Glock pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition, approximately 965 grams of cocaine, 650 grams of marijuana, THC cartidges, and a second 13 round magazine that was fully loaded.
Detectives seized over $3850 from Baez’s apartment.
Police say that the cocaine had a street value of over $75,000.
Baez had been previously convicted of firearm and ammunition possession in 2007 and cocaine distribution in 2008.
