The 45-year-old father accused of murdering his 19-year-old daughter has been officially charged.

A criminal complaint was filed Monday by Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III and New Bedford Police Chief Joseph Cordeiro against Walter DaSilva for the murder of his daughter, Sabrina DaSilva, in New Bedford.

Walter DaSilva was arrested by the U.S. Marshalls at a pizza parlor in Bridgeport, Connecticut Friday afternoon as a fugitive from justice.

“I can’t imagine any parent doing that to their child, and quite frankly hell is just too good for him.” Said neighbor Joyce Riberio.

Riberio lived just a few doors own from Sabrina, who was shot multiple times and killed July 3rd in the parking lot of the Verdean Garden apartment she shared with her mother and young daughter.

“She was a real nice kid. Real nice kid. Young. Doing her thing. Just not understandable.”

A spokesman with the U.S. Marshal’s told ABC6 News that New Bedford Police had contacted them early on in the murder investigation, wanting to speak with DaSilva. Now they’ll get their chance.
