New Bedford man sentenced for fentanyl distribution

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A New Bedford man was sentenced Wednesday in Boston Federal Court on fentanyl distribution charges.

According to court documents, 45-year-old Hector Diaz was sentenced to two years in prison and three years of supervised release.

Officials said on two occasions between December 2020 and January 2021, Diaz distributed and possessed fentanyl with intent to sell it in the New Bedford area.

Diaz pleaded guilty to two counts of distributing and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl back in May.
