FREETOWN, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police said a New Bedford man and woman were killed in a crash in Freetown.

The crash happened just after 8 a.m. on Route 140 north.

Police said they received reports about a black Kia Sedona driving erratically. A caller then said the car crashed off the road and struck a tree, hitting three other cars in the process.

Police said the 54-year-old man, who was the driver, and the 70-year-old woman, the passenger, died at the scene. Their names weren’t immediately released.

“The speed of the Kia is believed to have been a factor in the crash,” said police.

The drivers of one of the other cars suffered minor injuries, police said.
