New Bedford police arrest man on drug, gun charges

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police discovered drugs and a “ghost gun” at a residence on Aquidneck Street on May 11.
Jered Jones, 41, was charged with possession with intent to distribute as well as unlawful possession of a firearm, a high-capacity feeding device, and ammunition.
Detectives from the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau executed a search warrant of Jones’ residence as part of an investigation into a cocaine delivery operation, the department said.
Jones was discovered to be in possession of a 9mm firearm loaded with a large capacity magazine holding 24 rounds, several baggies of fentanyl and crack cocaine, packaging materials, 8 rounds of .22 caliber bullets, and over $1500 in cash.
Jones has several prior convictions around the Boston area for a variety of offenses including larceny, kidnapping, armed assault with intent to rob, and assault with a dangerous weapon, the department said.
