New Bedford woman killed in shooting at Fall River car wash
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday that a man was charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of a woman at a car wash in Fall River.
Angelo Leo, 33, is accused of fatally shooting 45-year-old Jessenia Simmons of New Bedford at Globe Car Wash on Broadway just before 1 p.m. on Monday.
First responders said they found Simmons dead in one of the car wash bays when they arrived on scene.
Leo turned himself in to police in Tiverton about 30 minutes after the shooting, officials said.
Authorities said since he was taken into custody in Rhode Island, Leo will first have to appear in a Newport County Court Tuesday morning as a fugitive from justice.
If Leo waives rendition, officials said he could be transported to Fall River District Court for an arraignment.
The investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing.
