New COVID-19 outbreak at Cape Cod nursing home

WEST YARMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) – Health officials in Massachusetts have a close eye on a cape cod nursing home after more than 30 people tested positive for the Delta Variant.

The cases are at Maplewood at Mayflower Place Senior Living home in West Yarmouth.

According to the department of public health, 24 cases are in residents who were already vaccinated.

The remaining nine cases are in staff members.

Family members visiting the home on Tuesday were not aware of the outbreak at the time.

“It’s scary, I wouldn’t have even gone to visit done that,” Kathy Cassidy who was visiting family said.

The Department of Public Health says it is in daily contact with Maplewood at Mayflower place to ensure staffing levels are maintained.

Residents who have tested positive have been offered monoclonal antibody therapeutics to help them with virus.
