EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — For the first time in thirty years, taxes for East Greenwich property owners will not increase following the Council’s approval of the $62 million dollar budget.

But the new budget is not without controversy.

The Council voted four to one in favor to consolidate town and school administrative services.

According to the Council President, the consolidation plan has been in the works for three years, but it’s leaving many wondering how this will affect the upcoming academic year.

The town has until July first to finalize a budget.
