New Hampshire woman arrested for abandoning baby in woods
MANCHESTER, N.H. (WLNE) — Manchester police said Monday that a woman is facing charges after they found her baby alone in the woods.
Police responded to a 911 call just before 1 a.m. for a woman who reportedly gave birth in the woods.
That woman was identified as Alexandra Eckersley, 26, who gave police false information as to where they could locate the newborn.
After about an hour of searching with her instructions, police were not able to find the baby.
Eckersley eventually led police to the correct location.
First responders found the baby boy in a large tent where he was exposed and in the cold.
Eckersley was later arrested on a felony charge of reckless conduct as well another charge for endangering the welfare of a child.
Officials later stated that the boy is “alive and improving” after being hospitalized at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.
