New Pump-Out Facilities in Portsmouth

DEM Awards Grants to Help Keep Narragansett Bay Clean

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WLNE)- The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management awards to grants to fix and create pump-out facilities.

The $37,500 grants are funded under the US Fish & Wildlife Service Clean Vessel Act (CVA).

They are going to Safe Harbors Sakonnet Marina to replace an existing pump and fixed-based pump-out station and Safe Harbors New England Boatworks to fund a new land-based facility.  Both are in Portsmouth.

The idea is to help keep Narragansett Bay clean and reduce pollution in local waters.
