PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – State Police raided an old mill in Providence Friday morning on Branch Avenue.

The building is well known to law enforcement who have reportedly been there multiple times over the past few years for a variety of crimes.

Officials were in and out of the building quickly Friday morning.

Two cars, a green Range Rover and a red Cadillac, were towed from the property.

Several businesses and apartments are inside of the old mill building.

In 2015 the FBI busted a large-scale marijuana grow operation, seizing 1,500 plants, a gun, and cash.

Months later the FBI was back again, and sources tell ABC6 that time they were searching for human remains.

Even back then, authorities remained tight-lipped.

Employees heading to work Friday were shocked by the activity.

"When I came in this morning and saw the State Police, two tow trucks and two cars being taken away, it’s kind of weird. It’s been quiet so I’m kind of curious what’s going on.”

No word yet on why the mill was raided.
